How does Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging work?

Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging detects subtle physiological changes in the body through identifying abnormalities in the blood supply. Those changes are sympathetically mirrored within the first 5mm of the epidermis. A problem will show up as a "cold" or "hot" spot, depending upon the particular condition causing the abnormality. The positioning and "shape" of the thermal change will also help to determine whether the problem is skeletal, tissue or nerve damage.

Specially trained doctors can then assess through the images and medical data given, what the cause is likely to be and what form further tests or treatment it would be advisable to look at.
